C.E.O.s Yet to Be Appointed by Governor General

John Briceño

Since Tuesday, there has been rampant speculation on social media and everywhere else about the appointment of Chief Executive Officers. Names have been flown left, right and centre and it has been causing an uproar. Tonight in a recorded statement, Briceño says that C.E.O.’s have to go through a process of appointment and that has not been carried out.  In other words, the Governor General has not signed off on the appointments, just yet, so the news has been premature. Here is how it is explained:

Prime Minister John Briceño

“According to the Constitution of Belize, all C.E.O. appointments are made by His Excellency, the Governor General acting upon the advice of the Prime Minister. To date, no C.E.O. has been appointment. At the next cabinet meeting, I will discuss with cabinet the team of C.E.O.s that will be responsible for the implementation of PlanBelize.”
