Trinidad nurses warned regarding strike
While nurses in Belize were pounding the pavement in search of better health their counterparts in Trinidad and Tobago were preparing to walk the picket lines in protest. Today Trinidad’s Regional Health Authority issued a warning to nurses, who plan to strike on Monday and Tuesday, that any protesters who gather on hospital grounds will be forcibly removed. The RHA, which manages all government hospitals in T and T, has also threatened legal action against the nurses if any hospital patients die as a result of their work stoppage. The nurses are seeking a 50% incentive allowance to stop the emigration to better paying jobs abroad. Government has offered a 25% allowance.
