P.M. Musa addresses visiting group
Prime Minister Said Musa, only recently back from a summit in Costa Rica, continued to broaden Belize’s international contacts, although this time on his home turf. This morning he traveled to San Pedro to address a meeting of the Caribbean Leadership Group, a gathering of young leaders from around the region who meet annually to discuss issues of interest to the Caribbean. Among topics covered in the P.M.’s address was the growing importance of information technology and the need for the Caribbean to keep pace with the rest of the world. From Ambergris Caye Prime Minister Musa flew back to Belize City where he spoke to a diplomatic conclave at the Chateau Caribbean. The Mini-Dublin group is made up of a number of donor countries which meet in Belize twice a year to discuss coordination of development assistance in the region. Musa used the opportunity to outline his government’s fiscal, monetary and economic policies. He was joined by Minister of Budget Planning Ralph Fonseca, who also fielded questions from the audience.
