Rain interrupts long hot dry season

Timing, as they say, is everything. And it seems that our timing could not have been worse with the story we ran yesterday on the prospects for a long hot dry season. Therefore we humbly apologize to all those who pinned out clothes last night only to find them soaked this morning by an unseasonable downpour. As good as the break in the heat felt, according to the met office, the rain was mostly confined to the coast. In the Orange Walk district, Rio Bravo recorded just over an inch of precipitation but out west, where it was really needed, less than a half inch of water was scattered over the district. Stann Creek was blessed with a few drops in Middlesex but that was it. Toledo, the wettest district in the country, hasn’t tasted sky juice for over two weeks. Chief Meteorologist Carlos Fuller says cloudy skies should continue tonight and linger for while tomorrow. After that, it should be back to hot and dry, light chop to choppy.
