Kungo Dance Belize; Emboldening the Art of Movement

Since the beginning of this week, Belizeans who participate in the artistic expression of dance have been engaged in various virtual dance workshops from their homes as Kongo Dance Belize is pushing full steam ahead with its mission.  Its cofounders, Karen Vernon and Jamie Thompson, spearheaded Dance X, which would have been celebrating a decade this year.  So in an effort to keep the event going, Kongo Dance Belize was birthed. Now due to the pandemic, the event has taken a twist and on Saturday night, the winners from an online competition amongst Belizean dance groups and individual dancers will be featured in the presentation, showing live right here on this station.  International performers will also remain a feature of the showcase, so the event is something that you don’t want to miss.  News Five spoke with the Vernon and Thompson about Kongo Dance Belize.
