McKenzie trial adjourned until next week
George “Junie Balls” McKenzie’s appeal in the Supreme Court today was adjourned on the request of his attorney Lutchman Sooknandan, who needed more time to prepare. It will be heard on April 7th. McKenzie and Eugene Neal, who were convicted by Magistrate Herbert Lord and given 4 years in prison each for possession of a prohibited firearm and 6 months for unlicensed ammunition are currently out on bail of $10,000 each. According to the lawyer for the defendants, Lutchman Sooknandan, their appeal is based on four grounds, which includes the position that the decision about the possession charge was based on the wrong point of law. McKenzie and Neal were arrested last October when the taxi they were riding in was searched and police found a sub machine gun and ammunition.
