Miss Belize contestants introduced
This year the Miss Belize beauty pageant promises to be an event to remember. In addition to the traditional strolls across the stage and the various costumes, local artists will also entertain the audience. But more notably, for the first time ever, Belmopan City will play host to the annual competition. Today the young ladies vying for the title were introduced to the press.
Solie Arguelles, Organizer, Miss Belize
“It’s been exciting. I have some very nice girls going up and we’ve had very good participation…I’d had a lot of applications. But as I told them in the press interview, I only did the ones that I thought would be ready for the year, because we had a short time to prepare.”
“We’re trying move the venue around to every part of the country to make it a truly national event, and Belmopan because it became a city as such. Well I knew it was a city, but because it’s the capital of the country, we’ll like to start at the capital and then move around to all the districts.”
The Miss Belize contestants are Shari Williams of Toledo, Shiemicka Richardson of New York, and Patricia Vasquez of the Stann Creek Valley. Representing Belize City are Elizabeth Rosado and Vanessa Peters while Patricia Usher hails from Belmopan. The pageant is set to start at 8:00pm this Friday at the Belmopan Civic Center. Tickets are $10 general admission and $20 for reserve.
