Barclays has credit card promotion

The question, “Cash or Credit” might soon be a thing of the past, that is, if Barclays Bank has anything to do with it. This morning the bank launched a VISA promotion that might have some lucky Belizean winning 50,000 U.S. dollars. The more times you whip out the plastic, at home or in distant lands, the better YOUR chances are for winning the grand prize. The bank says it’s trying to reinvigorate credit card usage in Belize.

“This one, this promotion, 50,000 U.S. dollars, is a lot of money and we’re also doing monthly draws, whereby we are going to be selecting ten card holders each month and they’ll be winning U.S. 100 dollars each. In addition, we’ll also have one cardholder winning U.S. 1000 dollars.”

The bank says the grand prizewinner will be chosen from entries all over the Caribbean and the Bahamas. The draw will take place on September 4th 2000. Only Classic and Gold Barclays card customers can enter the competition. The first lucky monthly winner of a 1,000 U.S. dollars was Ken U Kin Ho of Belize City. His wife was presented with the money at today’s ceremonies.
