Woman drowns in lagoon
A woman is reported to have drowned on Sunday in a lagoon near mile 8 on the Western Highway. John Olivera told police he and his common law wife Thelma Pike better known as “Tun Tun” left home with a friend, Elba Montoya to go swimming around 4:30pm. Montoya says they swam across the lagoon once, but on the return lap, she realized Pike had disappeared. She told Olivera, who started diving and searching, but when they found Pike she was already dead. A post mortem will be conducted at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital.
