Crooked Tree Causeway Still Under Water

Alpheus Gillett

While for the most part floodwaters have receded, across Belize District, the villages of Crooked Tree and Maypen remain cut off by water from the rest of the country. The Crooked Tree Lagoon is still overflowing and the Belize River in the River Valley area is filled to capacity. It will take some time before these waterways return to normal. Belize Rural NEMO Coordinator, Alpheus Gillett gave News Five an update.

“Except for Crooked Tree and Maypen, the water is still up. The Crooked Tree causeway is still under water. The Coast Guard is still taking the villagers to and from the community. So at this point, the water has receded for the most part of the villages in our area.”
