40 Persons Still in Shelters across Rural Belize

Alpheus Gillett

There are also forty persons still in shelters across rural Belize District.  It is expected, however, that those persons will be returning to their homes by week’s end.

Alpheus Gillett, Belize Rural Coordinator, NEMO

“Shelters are still open at this time, but some people have already gone back to their homes where the water has receded. But we still have a few people within shelters, mainly Burrell Boom; we still have in Crooked Tree as well.”

Duane Moody

“About how many persons are in shelters?”

Alpheus Gillett

“I would say about forty persons are in shelters at this time.  I would say by the end of this week, you will see most people are back into their homes with the exceptions of some families which the flood water has created some type of structural damage.”
