Three car accident, no one driving
Belize City drivers are always complaining about how bad other drivers are. But today, we found out that accidents do happen even when there’s nobody at the wheel.
Gilroy Pinnock
“I saw it but I couldn’t do nothing. I couldn’t do nothing. I still wonder how I come out.”
And everyone who saw this extraordinary sight could only wonder how in the world it happened, and without any serious injuries. Just after one this afternoon, Gilroy Pinnock’s world suddenly turned upside down, literally, and in a very unusual way.

Mechanic Harrison Bailey was working on the grey car here when, in what can only be described as a freak accident. The car jumped into reverse and at a high speed, hit that blue car, before barreling into Gilroy Pinnock’s car parked on the other side of the street.

“I done start to go. I tell my daughter I’m going. Cho! I couldn’t get out. Knock me right over. Boom! But I all I think about was “fire”, to come out. So I come out and all I get is this.”

“So you had to crawl out?”
Gilroy Pinnock
“I was going that way, but I see the fence so I come through so.”
Janelle Chanona
“How do you feel, lucky?”
Gilroy Pinnock
“Yeah. Had to cry it off because I’m alive.”
Both cars were insured. Up to news time, the mechanic had not been charged with any wrongdoing.
