Special December COVID-19 Relief Fund Replaces Christmas Cheer
Cabinet announced that nine hundred and thirty thousand dollars was approved for a special December COVID-19 Relief Fund to be equitably distributed among all thirty-one constituencies; that’s thirty thousand dollars each that will be used during this time to assist families during this festive season. In an interview with the media today, cabinet minister Kareem Musa said it is not to be confused with the Christmas cheer initiative of the previous administration.
Kareem Musa, P.U.P. Minister
“This time of year in the past administration there was Christmas cheer. We are facing a pandemic and while it is that we cannot have Christmas cheer per say, every single area representative, whether it is P.U.P. or U.D.P., knows that this time of year, you want to do something in your community and now more than ever with the pandemic and with COVID, it is absolutely important that we share whatever resources we can garner at this time of year with our people. As you know this is a very difficult time for everybody, economically, especially with the loss of their loved ones to COVID, especially with everyday getting sick. Yesterday, we had five hundred and six cases. And so, in our constituency, we will most certainly put that to good use at this time of year to help out with whatever grocery bags we can help out to the most needy in our community and certainly to give some sort of cheer to the children in our community at this time of year. And so it will be put to very good use in Caribbean Shores.”
