Family disputes suicide report in Dangriga

In Dangriga, Police are investigating the shooting death of 24 year old Jonathan Hines, a labourer of Belize City. According to Elroy Dougal, also of Belize City, sometime around 7:20 last night, he was at his mother’s house in the Rivas Estate area of Dangriga. He said he saw Hines pull out a small brown chrome handgun, load it with one bullet, put it to his head and pull the trigger. Hines died immediately. However, this evening family members called News Five to dispute Dougal’s claims that it was a suicide. They allege foul play and said that Dangriga Police have yet to find the gun used in the incident. Tonight, Police confirmed that the gun is still missing and that they have detained Dougal for questioning.
