Over 100 Persons Arrested for Breach of COVID-19 Regulations

Police arrested more than one hundred persons over the weekend for violating the Quarantine Regulations. The offences ranged from failure to wear a face mask, to breaking social distancing rule, to breach of curfew and hosting or attending a restricted event. Commissioner Chester Williams gave the media an update on the arrests.

“The police continue to crack down on those persons who continue to defy the quarantine regulations. Over the weekend, I think we had a hundred and seven arrests for different offences including seven for hosting a restricted event and when we say restricted event we say those who are hosting parties. We have a number of those arrested for breach of curfew. A number of persons arrested or the failure to wear a face mask. The Ministry is going to continue to do what we can with a view to assist the Ministry of Health with a view to reduce the number of daily infections.”
