Bishop granted bail
The man police believe tried to kidnap and rape a 15-year-old earlier this month, is today out on bail. Yesterday Magistrate Dorothy Flowers granted Errol Bishop, also known as Adel Mohammed Abdulla, bail in the amount of $5,000 with one surety of the same amount, which he met. When Bishop appeared in court on March 13th, the police prosecution had indicated that he was being investigated for other crimes and had asked Magistrate Flowers to remand Bishop with that in mind. Today the Police say those investigations will continue in full force even though Bishop is now out on the street. Bishop had been charged with Attempted Rape, Aggravated Assault, Grievous Harm and Forcible Abduction, after a female student of Excelsior High School reported that she was attacked as she was walking to school on March 2nd. The girl says she was on “T” Street when a man got out of a car and hit her in the head with a blunt object. She was later found wandering a yard on the same street looking very disoriented. The girl had to be hospitalized for several days, but recovered from her injuries. It was not the first time Bishop had been charged with assaulting the girl. Last summer, the same student had reported to police that Bishop offered her a ride to work, but instead took her to a secluded area behind the Central Bank and made sexual overtures to her. Bishop was charged with Common Assault in connection to the incident, but the case was later struck out after the student failed to turn up in court to testify. Bishop is expected to appear in court again on May 12th.
