Police to Step Up Enforcement Measures!
Minister of Home Affairs Kareem Musa says that while the laws are in place and cops will help to enforce the laws to prevent the spread of COVID-19, the public must do its part. Musa is calling on the public to use the hotlines to report restricted events. Musa explains that the COVID-19 police task force will be solely responsible to police the regulations.
Kareem Musa, Minister of Home Affairs
“Then in fact we are asking the public to do your part and call into this hotline 0-800-PARTIES or 0-800-7278432 and this is available to both B.T.L. and Smart customers. So, we are asking the public to do their part in reporting these illegal parties because what they are is illegal. So we have to crack down on these. The COVID task force we have about eight officers in each district assigned specifically to be a part of the COVID task force and enforcing the regulations. In Belize City, which has the highest population, we have twenty-four officers in Belize City dealing specifically with this task force. So, we are very serious. The Police Department is very serious about enforcing the quarantine regulations and we are asking the public to likewise be as a serious as we are.”
