Ombudsman calls for police transparency

Story Picture
Ombudsman Rodriguez says here at home most of the complaints he hears center on land issues and allegations of police brutality. Rodriguez is calling for transparency in the Police Department.

Paul Rodriguez, Ombudsman

“I think that our military and our police enforcement agencies are going to have take the idea of transparent seriously. Just and even-handed and respectful of all citizens because I’m afraid there’s is a measure of trying to cover up what the police do in Belize. I’m very serious about this. We have got to persuade the police that you have to be respectful to every citizen but not only be respectful, but appear to be so.”

The office of the ombudsman is located at number 56 Regent Street in Belize City.
