Man charged with injuring crying toddler
Reports of crimes against children, especially young defenseless infants, are becoming disturbingly common in Belize. Over the weekend, a 39-year-old man was charged with Dangerous Harm after he injured a 2-year-old child. According to police, just after 1:00 on Saturday afternoon, Eugene Neal of Roaring Creek Village reportedly became upset because 2-year-old Adrian Smith was crying and wouldn’t stop. Instead of comforting the child, Neal is alleged to have picked up the baby by his ankles and slammed the infant into the ground. The baby was admitted to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital in a critical condition with a concussion. Hospital officials tell News Five that the child’s condition is improving, but he has not regained full consciousness. He was later arrested and charged with Dangerous Harm. Eugene Neal is the live in boyfriend of the baby’s mother.
