Zee Edgell and Fred Hunter Pass Away
Preeminent Belizean author, Zee Edgell has passed away at age eighty, following a battle with cancer. Edgell penned four novels, including Beka Lamb and In Times Like These, as well as five short stories set in Belize. Zee Edgell received an honorary doctorate in literature from the University of the West Indies at Cave Hill, Barbados in 2009. In 2007, she received an MBE from Queen Elizabeth II, for her contribution to literature and the community. She was also the founder of The Reporter Newspaper in 1967. Zee Edgell is the elder sibling of former House Speaker Laura Tucker-Longsworth and mother of journalist Holly Edgell.
