Police Commissioner Says No Drug Plane Found
Over the weekend, a Mexican news outlet reported that a drug plane had landed on Belizean territory. Linea De Fuego in Quintana Roo reported that the plane had landed near the fishing village of Sarteneja in the Corozal District. Commissioner of Police Chester Williams disputed the reports saying that while the department tracks suspected drug planes, none landed in Belize over the weekend. He says that the area was searched and evidence of a drug plane landing was not found.
Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
“I know yes, every night we do track drug planes or suspected drugs planes and we know that the night before one may have landed in Mexico. But there was none that landed in Belize. I saw a report from the Mexican news outlet that one may have landed in the Sarteneja area. Maybe the Mexicans landed there. I don’t know but we have no knowledge of it. We have searched the area properly and there is no plane that had landed in that area.”
