Man charged with wife’s death

A Belize City man has been charged in the shooting death of his wife. 39 year old Ellis Tillett has been charged with causing death by careless conduct. Tillett told police that around 3:30 yesterday afternoon, he, his common law wife, 32 year old Marie Fuller, and a friend were going fishing in the Salt Creek Area. While driving, Tillett spotted a wild duck and decided to shoot it. He brought down his shotgun from the rack above the seat and fired a shot at the bird but missed. Tillett told police he reloaded the gun and put it back on the rack but the trigger caught one of the rungs and the gun went off. Marie Fuller was hit in the back and died in the truck.
