Youth charged with weekend murder

On Saturday, 19 year old Clifford Clare was gunned down at his home on Mahogany Street Extension and two teens standing nearby received gunshot wounds. A youth has now been charged with that murder as well as Wounding and use of Deadly Means of Harm. 20 year old Marlon Hyde was charged in Magistrate Court today. The shooting occurred on Saturday night, shortly after 10:20pm, across the street from the basketball court on Mahogany Street Extension. Witnesses said a youth on a white bike rode up and fired several shots at Clare, who was standing in the yard. A bullet hit Clare in the head and a 13-year-old girl received a shot to her back. A 14-year-old was also shot in the arm. All three were rushed to the Karl Heusner Memorial hospital but Clare died Sunday afternoon. Earlier that night Clare’s brother had been involved in a fight and police believe the incidents are related.
