Salvadoran Caretaker Busted with Mexican Weed in Corozal
Fifty-two-year-old Abelardo Orellana, a Salvadoran caretaker of Consejo Shores, Corozal District, is in police custody tonight following a sizeable drug bust on Tuesday afternoon by members of the Mobile Interdiction Team. The MIT officers received information that a stash of marijuana was being stored inside a small zinc structure on a farm in Consejo Shores. When they arrived at that location, an operation was conducted which yielded five large plastic bags and a total of one hundred and twenty-one parcels of suspected cannabis concealed inside a pair of drums. Orellana was subsequently arrested and is expected to be charged with possession of controlled drugs with the intent to supply. Commissioner of Police Chester Williams has a few more details.
Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
“Yesterday, the police went and searched an area in the Corozal District. The search of that area revealed the discovery of several parcels of cannabis. The cannabis was taken to the Corozal Police Station where it was weighed and I think it came up to three hundred and seventeen pounds. One person was found in the area and that person is currently in custody and will be charged sometime today for drug trafficking.”
