Garden City Cop Busted with Ganja Supply Near Sugar City
A thirty-five-year-old Police Constable has been charged for a drug-related offence after being busted on Christmas Eve with a quantity of marijuana stowed inside a suitcase. P.C. Dion Bellini was expected to appear before the Orange Walk Magistrate’s Court earlier today to answer to a single count of possession of controlled drugs with intent to supply to another. Bellini’s arrest on December twenty-fourth succeeded another marijuana seizure in northern Belize earlier that week.
A.C.P. Joseph Myvett, Head, National Crimes Investigation Branch
“On the twenty-fourth of December, sometime around 12:45 p.m., police officers visited a compound just on the outskirts of Orange Walk Town where they observed a male person later identified as Dion Bellini, thirty-five-year-old officer of a San Martin address in Belmopan and who is posted in San Ignacio underneath a white Jeep Cherokee. As a result, Bellini was approached by police and he was informed that a search would have been conducted on the vehicle which he was in charge of. As a result of the search, police discovered two suitcases in the trunk area of the jeep which, when opened, revealed thirty-three parcels of suspected cannabis weighing a total of eighteen point two kilograms. Bellini was then taken into custody and has since been arrested and charged for possession with intent to supply a controlled drug. He is to appear in Orange Walk’s Magistrate’s Court today.”

“Was this the result of information provided to police or was this mere happenstance?”
A.C.P. Joseph Myvett
“I do not want to go into the details but there is an ongoing investigation by the police in relation to drugs in the northern districts per se, as you know that earlier in the week there was a significant seizure on the Consejo Road in relation to this said investigation.”
