Boy drowns in boating accident
A young boy drowned over the weekend after a canoe ride turned tragic. On Saturday afternoon, 10-year-old Philip Liang was in a canoe with other children in a pond near mile fourteen and a half on the Western Highway when the canoe tipped over. Liang’s father, Rong Liang, says the other children escaped uninjured but Philip never surfaced. The adults immediately began a search, but when they found Philip it was too late. The body was taken to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital where it awaits a post mortem examination. Philip Liang was a student of the Belize Elementary School.
