Abdullah Bishop charged for teen’s abduction
Two weeks after a student reported being hit in the head on “T” Street, a man has been charged. But today 51 year old Errol Bishop, also known as Adel Mohammed Abdullah was not only charged with aggravated assault, he was charged with Attempted Rape, Grievous Harm, and Forcible Abduction. Bishop, who was picked up by police late last week, was denied bail by Magistrate Dorothy Flowers and remanded to the Hattieville Correctional Facility this morning. The Police Prosecution indicated in court that continuing investigations might lead them to charge Bishop with additional crimes. According to reports, on March 2nd, a 15-year-old student of Excelsior High School was walking to school when a car pulled up; a man got out and then hit her on the head with a blunt object. Sometime later she approached mechanics in a nearby yard saying she was trying to get home. They said she was complaining of a head injury and appeared confused. The girl was admitted to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital where she remained disoriented for several days but recovered from her injuries. This is the second time the girl has brought charges against Errol Bishop. On the 19th of August last year, she alleged that Bishop offered her a ride to her summer job but when she got into his car, he took her to the area behind the Central Bank, made sexual overtures and began to stroke her legs. Police arrested and charged Bishop with Common Assault. However the case was thrown out of court when the girl failed to show up to testify. Bishop is being represented by Attorney Lutchman Sooknandan. The case was adjourned until March 22nd.
