Restaurant owner pleads guilty to Aggravated Assault

Story PictureIn another case, a restaurant owner at the Belize City Municipal Airstrip was sent behind bars after he was denied bail on allegations that he assaulted three people with a gun. Forty-four year old Rick Munnings Senior pleaded guilty at first to three counts of Aggravated Assault with a Firearm before Magistrate Tracy Sosa and the matter was adjourned. But when he reappeared before her this afternoon he changed his plea. He was remanded to the Hattieville Prison until April twenty-third. The charges against Munnings follow an incident around five-thirty last Friday evening. According to forty-two year old Martha Castillo, she along with her fourteen year old daughter and a friend, Brenda Aguilar were standing in her yard on Swallow Street when Munnings entered and pointed a pistol at them. Castillo said Munnings asked for her son and told her he would kill her after which he left in a green four door vehicle. Police say they have retrieved a nine millimeter pistol from Munnings.
