Teen drowns in Belize River
A fishing trip over the long weekend ended in tragedy after a boat capsized and a teenaged girl drowned. The incident took place on the Belize River by Never Delay. Police investigations reveal that thirty-six year old Eufemio Cruz and sixteen year old Vanessa Perillo both from Roaring Creek were out fishing on Sunday when suddenly their canoe overturned. Cruz told police he saw Perillo struggling in the river and when he swam over to help he saw a swelling and a bruise on her forehead. The girl was taken to the Belmopan Hospital but pronounced dead on arrival.
