“Chips” Noralez Not Seeking Re-election

Michael “Chips” Noralez

Here in Belize City, the final P.U.P. slate is still unknown.  Mayor Bernard Wagner has confirmed he will be seeking re-election, but it’s anyone’s guess as to who will be on his slate.  Party Chairman Henry Charles told us that the slates would be finalized as early as this week as the successful applicants’ names are with the steering committee to determine who will get the final approval. One person that we can confirm will not be on the ballot on March third is Deputy Mayor Michael “Chips” Noralez. He explains why.

Michael “Chips” Noralez, Deputy Mayor, Belize City Council

“When it comes to the slate for the city council, I think they are still trying to decide if they are going to have a convention or not. But I for one will not be seeking re-election because from the beginning in 2017 when I was approached to be a part of the slate then, I had expressed to those concerned that I will only have been serving one term. So I will stick to my word and migrate from Belize City. I did what I could have done.”

Duane Moody

“You are migrating?”

Michael “Chips” Noralez

“Yeah, yeah. Down south; I am going back down south. So I am sticking to the word. I had told my team the first time we met, the first time I met everybody that I would only be serving one term just to make sure that we could start doing what the party intended to do here in Belize City.”
