Bayview Oasis robbed by two thieves

Closer to the city, there is a cool spot where you can get away and enjoy the seaside breeze. Perhaps that is what inspired two men to rob the bar near the sea at mile four and a half on the Northern Highway. The proprietor of the Bayview Oasis, sixty-five year old Otto Petterson, said the masked thieves came at ten p.m., just as he was closing the business for the night.

“When I stepped outside to take my worker home the guy had held her with a gun and then they held me with a knife and brought us back inside the bar where my wife was also held and they put us on the floor face down and proceeded to rob the place.”

“What they did they get?”

“Well, they got money from the drawer and the cash sales of the day, they got money from my wife’s purse, they got my worker’s cell phone, they got liquor from the bar and from a private room and cigarettes, phones cards, they got a video camera, a digital camera, a gold chainand a few other knickknacks. The business hasn’t been that good but we actually had a normal day on Sunday, so we had a few dollars in the till. Hopefully this will not chase off my costumers because we have one of the nicest places in town and we give as good a service as we can and people come out here with their families on the weekend and we barbeque. Otherwise they enjoy the food that my wife cooks in the kitchen and we give them good service.”

The thieves escaped by driving off with Petterson’s vehicle. They eventually abandoned the vehicle and the police found his 1992 Previa van this afternoon in Vista Del Mar area of Ladyville.
