1000+ Individuals Pass Police Exams

More than one thousand young men and women from across the country performed successfully in the police exams. The next step to becoming a police officer is passing the interview segment, which for Corozal and Orange Walk residents was done today at the Police Training Academy in Belmopan. Dozens of hopefuls waited patiently for their time to be interviewed, but there is only space for about two hundred and twenty-five officers. According to ComPol Chester Williams, those who don’t make it to the end will be placed on standby if any recruit decided to leave while on training.

“We have finally corrected all the exams papers that is two thousand seven hundred plus and we have a number of passes. I think that it I a little over a thousand of those persons who were successful in the exam. And so what we commenced today is bring those persons who were successful in the exam to the academy to undergo an interview and so today we are dealing with Orange Walk and Corozal.   Those persons who are successful in interviews will move on to the third stage of elimination which is going to be the vetting and from the vetting we eliminate further and we go to the medical and from the medical we eliminate we come up with our final list. One must understand that we just have vacancy for two-twenty-five and we can’t go beyond that because we don’t have the budgetary allocation for it and so those persons who might not be as fortunate then we might just have to tell them you know next time round we will consider you.”

“Do have a standby list just in case because I know when it comes to the drilling that is the time when this one remembers his baby, he wants to go home and can’t take.”

Chester Williams

“Yes of course. Again that is something we normally do and this time around we will have a bigger standby list because the fact they will not be able to leave the academy for three months, that in it itself may discourage some of them while here to leave. Some of those young men are very jealous. They hear that their girlfriends are here and they pack up their things so they roll.”
