Ambassadors Appointed by Barrow Administration Refused to Return
The Briceño administration has yet to finalize its list of diplomatic postings. In fact, for weeks, we have been receiving reports that individuals sent on diplomatic missions at Belizean embassy overseas were refusing to return home, delaying the government’s plan in appointing new ambassadors and other diplomats. Today, PM John Briceño says that the announcement of new ambassadors will be made shortly.
Prime Minister John Briceño
“When it comes to foreign postings, everybody knows the ambassadors work during the term of their government and when the time comes that they need to come home, I am told, I don’t know that a few of them did not want to come back home. And finally the Ministry had to tell them you know, you have to come back home, you are no longer employed by the government of Belize.”

“Can you confirm that Doctor Candice Pitts will be the ambassador to Taiwan?”
Prime Minister John Briceño
“Well we are going to be making the announcement very shortly, of all them together. We are going to make them as one group so that then you can look. But we are looking at very good candidates to be able to represent us very well abroad.”
