Members of Public Service Commission Refuse to Resign
The Prime Minister also responded to questions about the Public Service Commission. Like the Chairman of the Elections and Boundaries Commission, Estevan Perera, the Public Service Commission members refuse to resign, even though it is known as a politically appointed body. When there is a government change, the commission members would usually leave, but they are reportedly refusing to step down. PM Briceño says that they need to resign now.
Prime Minister John Briceño
“They should have resigned from the twelfth of November. They haven’t as yet. They need to understand that there is a new government and as a new government it has been the practice from independence that when a new government comes in everybody resigns and so I am very disappointed that they have not resigned as yet and I hope that can be addressed very soon.”
