Eli Chan of Belmopan is Found Dead on a Farm
A man was found dead in Belmopan on Thursday, and the family says that he was murdered. Eli Chan left home on Wednesday to go to a friend’s farm but never returned that evening. According to the family, Chan would always visit the farm with his friends, and he would sometimes engage in work to earn some money. But when he didn’t return home, they became worried and began to search for him. It wasn’t until Thursday when someone was visiting a farm in the area that they stumbled upon Chan’s body next to a tree. The family says that from what they have observed on the scene Chan appeared to have been attacked, but they don’t have any details of what transpired on the farm.
Francisco Emmanuel, Brother-in-law of the deceased
“When they went there they found him dead. I don’t know what is the cause or the problem. But according to what it looks like, it seems he had trouble with someone because he is not a trouble person from what I know of him.”

“Was there anything on the body that a family member may have observed to indicate foul play?”
Francisco Emmanuel
“Well, I don’t know much, but according to my sister-in-law he has a couple like someone hold him from his throat, you know like when you grab someone and slam them into something, he has a couple bruises on his face. So, I probably think that he had problem with someone or someone that he went with or they were coming back and I am not sure how it happened but that is where they had problems and it looks like they just grabbed him and choked him and no one knows. It so far in the jungle no one can hear anything.”
