Woman alleges assault; fails to show up for Tribunal

In July Blanca Chinchilla of New Road reported that a police constable punched her at the Traffic Office at the Raccoon Street Station. The constable claimed he did know the woman but that she showed up drunk around 2:30am and tried to choke him so he pushed her off. He says she fell and hit her nose. Police also claim that during her detention at the station she tried to hang herself with her own pants and three constables had to cut them off. The strange story was investigated by the police department’s internal affairs division and a tribunal was scheduled for last Thursday. However, we may never know exactly what happened because the police say that although a notice was sent to Blanca Chinchilla eight days before, neither she nor any of her witnesses showed up to testify.
