A New Set of Regulations to Tackle COVID-19
The new COVID-19 Regulations of Statutory Instruments eight and nine of 2020 came into effect midnight last night. As we shared last week, the curfew hours have been adjusted, and some establishments like the gyms and churches are now allowed to open their doors, with some restrictions still in place. Today, Commissioner of Police Chester breaks down the main points of what you are allowed and not allowed to do.
Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
“In the case of curfew, curfew now moves from eight p.m., to ten p.m., and ends at five a.m. We also see that gyms are now open, however, they can only house at any given time fifty percent capacity and the management of the gym must ensure that everyone enters the gym with a mask – yes they won’t work out with the mask, they will take it off to work out. They must also ensure that they take a log of every person who goes to the gym and work out. They must also ensure that there are sanitary materials for people to sanitize and after every use of the equipment; they must ensure that they are cleaned before other persons use it. Churches are also allowed to be open at fifty percent capacity and everyone must wear a mask except for the officiating person and the church service must not go above one hour. The curfew for children remain the same in terms of six p.m. to five a.m., however parents are allowed to have their child with them up to the ten p.m. hour.”
Also included in the changes, no one can host or attend party with persons not from the same household; and rum shops can now sell liquor until closing hours.
