A New NICH Board is Named
The National Institute of Culture and History was one of the remaining statutory bodies to have a new board of directors named. Late this afternoon, the Ministry of Culture issued a release announcing the six persons appointed to fill the board members’ positions. They are Arreini Palacio-Morgan, Carlo Habet, Michael Coye, Gavin Courtney, Merilyn Young and Albert Vaughn. Palacio-Morgan is the Executive Director of the Southern Environmental Association, while Albert Vaughn is a member of the Belize City Council. Merilyn Young is the campaign manager for Freetown Area Representative Francis Fonseca, who also sits as the Minister of Culture. Businessman Carlo Habet is a board member for the National Bank of Belize, while attorney Gavin Courtenay has multiple musical degrees. Michael Coye also sits on the board of directors for the Social Security Board. Their term of office is for two years.
