Independent candidate opens radio station

Things in Belmopan are heating up for the City Council Elections on March 1st. Candidates are running into controversy and the political parties are pulling out all the stops to promote their councils. But there are a few independents in the bunch and instead of plastering the town with posters, one independent has decided to dominate the airwaves. Local businessman Paul Morgan, running as a councilor candidate, has his own radio station…until March 1st that is. “Wamalali” at 103.3 FM will broadcast every night between 6:00 and 9:00 to discuss issues of the day. Residents of Belmopan, Las Flores, Maya Mopan, Rivera, Salvapan, San Martin and Punta Gorda, (the station has a friend in P.G. with a repeater station) will be able to listen and call in. Organizers say now, that voter and politician alike won’t have to worry about the weather affecting “get-togethers”.
