Wayne Casimiro is the New Head Coach for Women’s Football
Wayne Casimiro has been named the head coach of women’s football for the Football Federation of Belize. Casimiro is no stranger to the sport; the football athlete turned teacher began his coaching experience back in 1992 and as a sports coordinator, planned and organized sporting events in Stann Creek District. The licensed CONCACAF coach led the U-seventeen female national team that competed in the World Cup qualifier in 2019. He holds a degree from the University of Physical Education and has a wealth of experience. As the full-time coach and coach educator advocating for youth development in sports, what are his plans to improve female athletes’ performance in football?
Wayne Casimiro, Head Coach, Women’s Football, F.F.B.
“The task of the women football department is really to begin to get younger females involved, younger players involved. There are plans in place to involve the primary school students starting from age ten to thirteen. These are the areas in which we can basically develop. The Evo Soccer platform is on its fourth week now. And what we are doing, the girls receive a ball and they do their drills. So every week before Sunday, they have to submit a video of what they are doing so basically allows them to do individual development. So far it is going good. Our aim is to continue to build on that. We share; we follow up on the girls as to what it is that they are doing, sending them encouraging videos on our platform so that they are aware that we are keeping tab of what they are doing and giving them motivation to keep focused so that they improve individually.”
