Animals featured on stamps

Story Picture
The Philatelic Bureau has released its Animals Definitive Issue, or if you’re not a collector and need a translation: the post office has animal stamps. The twelve new stamps include the five cent green iguana, the ten cent gibnut, the fifteen cent black howler monkey, the twenty-five cent tamandua or ants bear, the thirty cent hawksbill turtle, fifty cent antelope or red brocket deer, sixty cent jaguar, seventy-five cent manatee, one dollar morelet’s crocodile, two dollar tapir, five dollar peccary and ten dollar boa constrictor. The stamps were designed by artist Doreen McGuiness and printed by the House of Questa. The post office says anyone interested in purchasing official first day covers can contact the Philatelic Bureau at the General Post Office in Belize City.
