Business Inside Corozal Free Zone is Good!
One of the questions the press put to Minister Mai was about the business’ state at the Corozal Free Zone. He says the opening days were busy and anticipates that it will continue to progress as more vendors are certified to open their shops.
Abelardo Mai, Minister of Enterprise
“After the first two days, it was rushing there were some delays because of the systems in place. The first days you always find some bugs but that has somewhat been ironed out so the flow is faster and there was a queue of vehicles lined up all the way in to Mexico but that has been addressed. So, the businesses were trying to – because there were some stuff that had been there for a while and they were trying to move it at a cheaper price so that people could buy it and I think they did succeed in doing that and so there are newer things going on the shelves now and that is moving too. You have to understand that Chetumal now is considered a free zone area and so many things can be taken into Chetumal and so I think that will work in our favour so far, as I understand it to be and I think it will continue to pick up.”
