Probe Into Rene Montero’s Activities Progresses

Will the former U.D.P. Minister of Works, Rene Montero, and his C.E.O. Errol Gentle face criminal charges?  The answer now lies with the Director of Public Prosecutions.  That’s because the Belize Police Department has reportedly handed the file over to the D.P.P.’s office.  The police began investigating Montero and Gentle after the Ministry of Infrastructure Development and Housing made an official complaint, alleging that Montero wantonly abused and misused his ministry’s resources for private gain. Prime Minister John Briceño says that employees in the ministry have made several allegations against their former boss.

“The Minster of Infrastructure Development has already taken up a lot of information and affidavits from employees at that ministry which was first the Ministry of Works where they laid out the allegations that were made against the former Minister Montero where the allegations were that he was using government employees working his farms, government diesel, government pickups, even government heavy duty equipment was found in his farm. The people at the Ministry of Infrastructure Development had to go there and physically move those equipment from there.”
