Gun found at scene of robbery attempt
While police have yet to make an arrest in the attack on shopkeeper Uan Wuu Ming on Tuesday morning, they have found a .38 caliber revolver. Police say they believe one of the assailants dropped it when he ran away from the scene at the corner of Dean Street and Euphrates Avenue. Although police initially detained a suspect, he was released today. Two men approached the shopkeeper in front of his store shortly before 8:00am and one hit him in the head with the butt of the revolver while attempting to rob him. He fought back and a Tourism Police Officer chased the assailants but they escaped. It was the third attack on a Chinese businessman in a week. Last Tuesday Wu Wuo Zheng was robbed and hit with a gun on Jane Usher Boulevard and two thousand dollars was stolen from his shop. On Monday of this week Lee Chao Jheng was robbed and beaten on Gill Street. Police say they believe the same individuals are responsible for the three attacks.
