Commission Chair: Documents Contained Errors
After today’s inquiry, a press conference was held during which the Chairman of the Commission, Senior Counsel Andrew Marshalleck shared that the Commission will reconvene on February twenty-sixth. The witness list has not been finalized, but it will include the auditor general, the accountant general, and the former Agriculture C.E.O. Marshalleck says that the Commission will form a conclusion at the end of their investigation. He added that during today’s session, it was obvious that errors were made.
Andrew Mashalleck, Chairman, Commission of Inquiry
“I think once we test the documentation and test the accuracy of the individuals we will be able to draw conclusions. I don’t want to be able to draw conclusions prematurely. I think in this point in time I think it is clear that there were errors in the documentations. Even the letters signed as approved by the Prime Minister contain these errors. Clearly we have to analyze all the information at the end of the day and decide who if anybody we need to bring back to put any specific questions to. You have to remember what we are engaged in is a fact finding inquiry so that we must illicit the facts in public before everybody and then analyze and decide where to go. The whole thing happens right in front of everybody and the cameras so that there is no investigation outside the room. Our conclusions being drawn otherwise than the proceedings themselves. We haven’t formed any conclusions. There might be personal disposition but the commission has not come to any conclusions. We do hope to be as impartial as we are able to. As to smoking gun, I don’t know how much smoke you expect to find.”
