BWEL donates stoves to fire victims

This weekend nine families left homeless by a fire in New Maya Mopan village will move into their new homes. The fire on January twenty-seventh started in the fire hearth of one of the thatched houses and quickly spread to the nearby homes. Since the disaster, the Government, the United Democratic Party, the Belize Red Cross and several business establishments have come forward to assist the fire victims. Today, Belize Western Energy Limited donated towards the cause: nine tabletop stoves including gas tanks, regulators and hoses. The gift was given to Minister Agripino Cawich, the area representative of Cayo South.

“We all heard about the incident and BWEL is a national business, we have a plant down there in Belmopan and we’re always willing to give a hand when it is needed.”

Agripino Cawich, Area Representative, Cayo South

“We are very thankful to BWEL: and in fact it moves me that the community, the businesses including BWEL in Belize City has assisted and has been very thoughtful in providing assistance to these people not to only rebuild their homes but also make them more safe. These stoves are going to make their homes more safe.”

BWEL has not only given the stoves, tanks and accessories but will also do the installation.
