Belize Mayors’ Association Holds Final Meeting for 2018-2021 Cohort of Mayors

The Belize Mayors’ Association members wrapped up their terms in office with a final meeting on Friday in Belmopan.  The Ministry of Local Government recognized those mayors who are not contesting the upcoming elections.  These include former mayor Kevin Bernard, now member of the National Assembly and Minister of Youth, Sports and E-Governance, who has served as mayor of Orange Walk Town since 2012.  Others who were given awards for their service include Mayor Khalid Belisle of the Belmopan City Council, Mayor Daniel Guerrero of the San Pedro Town Council, Mayor Ashton Mckenzie of Punta Gorda Town and Mayor Marconi Sosa from Benque Viejo.  Minister Bernard thanked the mayors on behalf of Minister of Local Government Oscar Requeña, who supports critical municipal development initiatives that have been on the table for the last few years. The awards ceremony was held at the Bull Frog Inn.
