In our coverage of the lead-up to the municipal elections, Monday’s nomination day in Dangriga started with a People’s United Party motorcade. The P.U.P.’s Dangriga Seven were ushered to Town Hall, where mayoral candidate, former Deputy ComPol Robert Mariano, and his councilor candidates were nominated. Later in the day, the incumbent mayor Francis Humphries, who is seeking a third term as mayor, told News Five why he is contesting the municipal elections.

“When I decided to re-contest the office of the mayor it was with determination and conviction that first of all it was the right thing to do under the prevailing circumstances. Secondly with the team that I anchor, we are confident that our people will see the goodness that we bring to leadership in our community the productivity we have proven, the courage with which we face challenges and the compassion with which we treat every single citizen of this community.”
