Cause of Ladyville explosion still unknown
Today investigators still have no clue about what caused a building in Ladyville to explode, destroying three walls and the roof, early Sunday morning. Residents nearby say they heard two loud bangs and when they looked outside, they saw San Benito Grocery in ruins. The owner, Edward Bennett Sr., says he has no idea what, if anything, was being housed in the store that could have triggered the incident. The Fire Department maintains that gas from the butane tank did not cause the explosion, demolition experts from the Belize Defense Force found no evidence of explosives and the MET Department says it was not a tornado. The police have yet to reveal their findings.
