272 Polling Stations for Municipal Elections on March 3rd!

Josephine Tamai

Tamai told the media today that polling stations will open at seven and close at six in the evening. She also addressed the number of polling stations and changes that had to be made to ensure proper social distancing and adherence to COVID-19 protocols.

Josephine Tamai, Chief Elections Officer

“In terms of the polling stations, I can tell you that for the municipal elections we are having two hundred and seventy-two polling stations across the country in all nine municipalities and for the Corozal Bay bi-election we are having a total of eighteen polling stations.    One of the other things that we did and the parties did agree, we even cut down the number of persons assigned to one polling station even further this time around and so polling stations are limited to between three to hundred four persons maximum in any one polling station.  We have approximately one thousand five hundred public officers who will be conducting elections across the country for the municipal elections and the bi-election; that doesn’t include the number of police officers.”
